FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne City Cinema is hosting its ninth annual Hobnobben film festival where over 140 movies will be presented by filmmakers.
Thursday was opening night, and 11 Indiana film makers were able to present their films.
“[The] film festival’s opening night is a chance for us to bring together Indiana filmmakers and Indiana audiences, and have them have a chance to celebrate one another,” says Executive Director Art Herbig.
One of the 11 filmmakers was born and raised in Fort Wayne. It marks Sadie Fenstermarcer’s first time in Hobnobben.
“I helped out last year and it was really cool to see everyone’s films, and I remember leaving that festival and being like my goal is to get a film in next year,” explains Fenstermarcer. “And I did it so that’s pretty cool.”
Herbig says the festival is not just about watching movies with other people who like them. He says it allows for filmmakers to connect and discuss film.
“Some of the best parts about a film festival are the conversations that happen in the hallway you know, we’ve got workshops for film makers, we’ve got after film panels to discuss what you’ve seen, what the subject matter is or even experts,”
says Herbig.
The event still has three days left and anyone can attend. Tickets are $30 per person and get you access to the movies for that day. If you’re a student, present a student ID card and you can get half off.
