Ain’t No Power Like the Power of the People
Politics, protests, parole and police: the films in this block explore the ways in which our socioeconomic systems impact different populations. The subjects in all four of these stories are fighting for a better way and a better system. No change is too small if it has a positive impact on just one person. Stay after the films for a panel conversation.
Please join us for a panel discussion following the block.
Sunday: 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM • Spectator Lounge
Filmmaker’s Imaginarium

Sunday: 1:45 PM - 3:15 PM • Main Theater
Escaping Tyranny
A trip to the beach isn’t what it appears, a birthday gone wrong, and two women struggling to overcome their past to move forward. All four of these films highlight the difficulties of overcoming political strife and terror to move forward toward a new life.

Missed Connections 💔
Having great chemistry isn’t the only thing that drives us toward having long-lasting relationships, and that’s exactly what these three films present. In The Things Where They No Longer Were, a once-adolescent couple meet again in their mid-30s and reflect on their past and present. Follow along to see how deeply relationships can impact our lives and sense of self.
Sunday: 3:30 PM - 4:15 PM • Main Theater
Coup D’etat In Myanmar
These two films powerfully show what life is like after the chaos of the February 2021 coup in Myanmar. In Journey of a Bird, a Burmese teen and his friend form a media action group and start their own revolution. In An Affair in One February, two lovers awaken on February 1, 2021, oblivious to the military coup that has occurred.
Please join us for a panel discussion after what happened to the wolf? that will cover all three films. Led by Fort Wayne Sister Cities.
Sunday: 3:00 PM - 4:15 PM • Spectator Lounge
WËRAPARA
In the midst of the Colombian Andes, six trans women from the Emberá Chami community bravely embrace their artistic and spiritual identities. They are called WËRAPARA, which in Emberá means: “girls, women, gay.” This film tells us about their life in the mountains, their daily tasks, and their discoveries as trans women, including the fusion of crafts and the world of fashion.
Sunday: 4:30 PM - 6:45 PM • Main Theater
Closing Night Film: what happened to the Wolf?
Two terminally ill women meet at a hospital in Myanmar and find comfort, and love, together. They ultimately embark on a road trip to a Shan State destination famous for its stunning sea of clouds. The film’s depiction of a lesbian romance is radical in culturally conservative Myanmar, where LGBTQ+ people can face legal persecution, prison time, and even state-encouraged violence.
Please join us for a panel discussion following this film that will also address the block Coup D’Etat in Myanmar. Led by Fort Wayne Sister Cities.
